0:00-0:03

The scene opens with a tight shot of several pictures in assorted picture frames. In each of these pictures is a smiling young boy and one picture is a happy couple being wed. It can be assumed that the couple are the parents of the boy. The pictures are dimly lit which gives a foreboding feeling and contrasts the happy family in the pictures.

0:05

As the camera move across the pictures, the house of this family comes into focus. The only lit area is part of a staircase from a source of light coming from another room. There is a shadow that moves across the light. The darkness and the shadow enhances the ominous feeling of the shot.

0:09-0:10

The camera continues to move across the room revealing a little boy, most likely the little boy in the pictures from the opening of the video, sitting atop the stairs in the light. He is in his pajamas and has a toy in his hands. Given the lighting and his clothes, we can assume he is either supposed to be asleep or has woken up from something. He is sitting directly in the light that is coming from the other room so he has a clear view of what is happening there. We can only assume that he was looking for his parents after not being able to sleep and found them. Nothing on his face shows that he is happy to see what he is seeing, even playing with his toy does not make him smile.

0:12-0:13

The shot changes to behind the child on the stairs and his stare does not break from what is happening in the other room. A shadow is again seen being cast from someone in the other room. The person casting the shadow is moving his/her body and his/her arm. This may mean there is some kind of physical dispute going on in the other were and the boy is witnessing all of it. The mood is very tense.

0:14-0:18

The shot is now tight on the child’s face. He is intently watching what is happening in the other room, eyes darting back and forth, probably focusing on each parent. He then looks away from the scene and down at his toy, his face still full of concern. He might be looking away and focusing on his toy to distract himself or try to pretend the scene in the other room is not happening. Having the boy look away sets up for a more suprising and dramatic reaction for what is to come next.

0:19-0:23

He is startled by something, probably a loud noise, and returns his gaze to the other room, this time with a very concerned and scared look on his face. His eyes widened, his mouth opens slightly and his breathing has increased. Looking at his eyes, you see them dart quickly between two points of focus most likely each of his parents. His eyes move from a high to low position twice. One of the parents is probably on the ground. It can only be assumed that one parent has struck the other in an act of domestic violence. The boy is in awe trying to understand why one of his parents has hit the other.struck the other in an act of violence. The boy is in awe trying to understand why one of his parents has hit the other.

0:24

The shot fades with the boy still looking at his parents to a black screen with the question “Children have to sit by and watch. What’s your excuse?” The intended audience of this statement is anyone who may have witnessed acts of domestic violence as well as informing everyone else that there are actions to take when domestic has been witnessed. Someone walking by the house could have seen the act through a window but most likely done nothing about it. There is not excuse for that.

The advertisement begins with camera focusing on middle aged blonde woman dancing along to music. The music seems to be loud guitar sound with no words. There are also few people in background, holding red party cups in dim lit house. According to the clothing style and taste of the music this may be filmed  bit back in days.

(0:00-0:01)The blonde woman has happy expression and is dancing to the music while talking to her friend on her left. The first thing the woman says “And what was that?” to her friend. At same time in a background the girl spilled drink over a guy’s shirt who was trying to clean it.

(0:02-0:03) The blonde woman’s friend replies back unable to keep her head and posture straight. The blonde woman lifts up big black glass bottle with her right hand similar to alcohol bottle. As soon she drinks it, there’s clogging sound of something being struck in the throat. Her head remains in same position up towards with her mouth open and eyes wide open as well.

(0:04-0:06) She placing left palm of her hand over her mouth while it was towards ceiling. And slowly brings head down with hand pressed over her mouth. Her friend looks at her shaking bit to drunk to react in any way but smile.

(0:08-0:11) Her friend looks at her shaking bit while the blonde woman puts her hand out with very concern face and then spits out her tooth. Her other friend seems to be shocked and starts to laugh bit covering her mouth.

(0:12-0:13) The blonde woman laughs while looking at the tooth she lost on palm of her hand.

(0:14-0:15)  The woman is still holding tooth on her hand. And tries to complete sentence of what she wants to say while looking at her broken tooth  but is unable to. Her friend leans towards her side and laughs, looking at the tooth in her hand.

(0:16-0:18) Both of the women fall down losing balance  on to the couch behind them with loud laugher holding each other.

At the end of (0:18) the video says it’s easy to tell if you had too many.

(0:19)  Now the focus goes towards this other young girl who is sitting next to this young guy on the house staircase in the same previous setting and talking. There are two bottles of alcohol and one red cup next to the staircase where they both are sitting.

(0:20) She holds out her car key smiling at him and seem to be saying “no, I’m not drunk.”

(0:21-0:23)  As she gets up smiling, he makes bye gesture with his hand. She gets down on the stairs and makes shush gesture with her finger over her lips. As if it were secret between them that she was drunk.

At this part of video there’s message “what if you just had one too many”

(0:24) She steps down on the steps of the stair smiling at him and crouches down pinking up her jacket to run towards the door out.

(0:28-0:29) The guy face expression he’s not happy about her leaving and is concerned.

From (0:25-0:30) till the end of video, a slogan comes up in white letters “Buzz driving is drunk driving”

Video starts with white and grey words”What you see is real. Footage courtesy of the Bully Project” on the grey background. At the very beginning viewer is being told what he should concentrate his attention on – the bullying. However, it’s not possible yet to guess what kind of bullying it’s going to be about.

0:04

The situation is taking place on a school bus full of kids, around 12 years old. It looks just like a normal morning way to the school with students and some teachers on the bus. Kids are talking to each other, female teacher is trying to calm them down. One of the nerdy looking boys is getting pushed from his seat by another boy sitting right next to him. Nobody really seems to care about the situation.

0:08

The chubby guy with a hat on from the back seat joins the bully and hits with a force the victim on his back. Poor boy turns around, he looks disgruntled and abused, but he doesn’t say anything. Boy sitting on the left keeps starring at his phone, teacher doesn’t see, or pretends not to see that something wrong is happening, even though she’s looking pretty much that direction.

0:10

After hitting harmless kid, bully commands him to move and change his seat. He’s pointing on the seat and the boy submissively takes another seat, the one where he’s been told to go and stays quiet. Some kids are watching what’s happening with curiosity, others don’t even bother to look that direction and keep doing their own things.

0:15

For few moments camera is showing two blond girls, sitting on the same bus. The shot isn’t showing the fight, but it’s clear that girls are watching guys bullying their peer.  You can see just face of one of the girl and she looks entertained.  It seems like she can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next.

0:17

Camera shows the boys again. The victim is sitting on the new spot, but other kids keep bullying him: some boy starts smothering him from the back and the student sitting right next to the helpless kid doesn’t do anything to stop it.

0:19

For the new few seconds camera switches some shots, showing reaction of different kids sitting on that bus and being witnesses of the situation. Most of children look worried and unsure how to react. They seem to be either too scared or just don’t care enough about the situation to say something back to bullies.

0:27

Video ends with the same grey screen. The inscription says “Teach your kids how to be more than a bystander”.

Adding sound to the video doesn’t make a big difference for this video, because pictures speak for themselves. You can notice that kids not just physically hurt their victim, but they also verbally abuse him.

The purpose of this video is to prevent bullying among children and teenagers, teach kids that ignoring the situation doesn’t mean you’re not participating in the bullying. Sometimes not saying anything and watching is worse than doing something bad.

0:00-0:20

In the first few seconds of the video, you notice many different people come together putting up tents and displaying shirts on tables. A lot of excitement is portrayed in these few seconds. There are people dressed up with shirts that state ” Love has no labels”. You also see that many of the people that are cheering are all different genders, race, and color.

0:21-0:40

We start to hear a young woman that has been asked “what is love?” It is a question being asked to the people that are parading and cheering with excitement as they march their way showing pride in what they are trying to, as it looks to me make a statement with their shirts and signs that state “love has no labels” which to me in these few seconds has showed me that this video can be a protest against pride members also known as same sex couples, gender changed individuals, and race.

0:41-1:12

These few seconds of the PSA video shows how they are parading with signs, fake tattoos, photographing, as well as interviewing different couples on what love is to them. They are also a symbol to what is trying to be stated to people, that we should not judge. Different people come up to a stand that has a videographer that seems to be asking either same sex couples or a group or different genders what they think “Love is ?”.

1:13-1:30

In this we hear in the background of the video a young man speaking bout how this gathering that we see of how happy people are waving flags of striped rainbow colors and wearing shirts with the phrase “LOVE HAS NO LABELS” stated has helped him open up to his family and friends on his way of life that he life that many in this world do not accept. It made him open up to telling the people he cares about, it showed him and made him realize how many people is dealing with similar issues he had and how to over come them. He has a support system.

1:31-1:50

This scene shows on how they have a x-ray screen showing on how we are all made up the same, behind that screen we cannot see if we are big, small, dark, light, man or women. We can only see bones. This is stating that we are all made the same and should be treated the same. It has given the people a opportunity to show everyone around them that behind that screen we can’t judge so why should we when they pop out the sides of the screen and show their real identity. Love with no labels is trying to state that love doesn’t signify that we can only love on certain “type”.

1:50-2:00

The video has come to a closing statement saying “Love can only be defined by one word, and thats love.” It is trying to prove a point and let people know that we should not judge others and love others for who they are no matter what gender or race they may like. We are all equal and we should all love one another the same. This ad is to encourage people that this is what makes individuals happy that are different then us. That we should not love anyone less or more due to their choices and way or life. We are all created differently. We must except the differences and let people live without ruling how we should be living in this world. If that was to be true god would have had a manual instructed with who we will will be with and that we are all made the same and look the same because of these issues.

Teach Your Kids How to Deal with Bullying

0:01

In the introduction there is a text that states that the footage is real and that it is courtesy of the Bully Project, which makes feel negative about the video because it is most likely a recorded video of a poor vulnerable child being picked on by bigger kids.

0:03

There’s a bunch of middle schoolers in a school bus. Majority of these students in the bus are white boys with different shades of brown hair and they are either facing upfront or turned to the side to talk to their classmates.  However, one of the boys wearing a sweater with one horizontal stripe is hanging off of his seat and is in the middle of the aisle. His hands are holding onto the dark gray bus seats around him for support. A boy sitting to the right of him is on the edge of his seat, pushing sweater boy off. In the background, which is the front of the bus, you can see the bus driver’s face in the reflection of the long mirror above  her. She is using the mirror to look behind her and her eyes are towards the right, where the boys are to see what’s happening.

0:05

The boy with the sweater moves up and then back onto his seat on the right, though he is still at the edge of the seat with one hand holding onto the seat in front of him. The bus driver is still watching through the mirror probably because there is a lot of noise or she sees that the boy is being mistreated. But now a tan girl who is sitting in front of the boys turns her head around and looks angry. Her eyes are directed to sweater boy and she looks like she is about to confront the sweater boy.

0:07

The girl is now talking to sweater boy with her mouth wide open, she must have been yelling at him really loud because now the bus driver is no longer looking through the mirror but in the reflection you see her turning around to watch. There is a thick white boy sitting on the bus seat behind sweater boy with a black cap on and he swings his arm at sweater boy. His fist hits sweater boy. A student, also a white boy with brown hair sitting in the first row  behind the bus driver looks back what is going on in sweater boy’s area.

0:08

After the fist hits the sweater boy. The girl who was yelling shuts her mouth and raises her eyebrows as if he deserved it. Her eyes look into the camera and as a result she is fixing her hair, sweeping it to the side. The sweater boy turns around to look at the boy who hit him, revealing his face. He looks like a frail boy with nerdy glasses. His facial expression is not furious but a bit surprised. His mouth is open like he has no words to respond to being randomly hit from behind. I can tell he does not want any trouble and is the passive type. Another kid, who is asian, sitting on the second row turns around with a surprised expression to look at the sweater boy, indicating that there was probably a large sound when sweater boy got hit. You can see the bus driver’s face clearly now as she turned around to watch the whole thing. Since the bus driver is not physically turning back, we can conclude that she is not driven at the moment. Another indication is when I observed the windows, it does not seem to be moving either.

0:10

Now the bus driver, the tan girl, the boy in the same seat as sweater boy, and the asian kid are all looking backwards towards the thick kid with the black cap. He is probably talking, and has his arm stretched out, pointing to the bottom left corner of the screen. The thick kid basically hit sweater boy and is commanding sweater boy to move to where he is pointing. All the other students surrounding sweater boy is still looking upfront or talking to their friends.

0:11

Sweater boy listens to the kid with the black cap and gets off of his seat. He then moves to where the kid was pointing and is out of the frame.

0:15

The frame changes and captures bystanders, in different areas of the bus. In this case, it is somewhere in the front seats. A girl with blonde short curly hair is looking back with her mouth slightly opened, like she is surprised. I know she is looking at all the commotion. Another blonde girl sitting next to her with straight hair is also looking at that direction because I see the back of her head.

0:18

The camera shifts back to sweater boy. He is sitting in his new seat, facing to the front, minding his own business when suddenly another thick white kid sitting in the seat behind him reaches to sweat boy’s neck grabs it, probably as an opportunity. Sweater boy’s hands is grabbing the hands and you can see his head moving in a side to side motion, showing that he is being choked. There is a kid sitting next to sweater boy near the window that appears int he frame and he is just facing front and is doing nothing.

0:19

The frame switches to another kid from the front with brown curly hair,  looking back but half of his face is hidden behind the seat. He is looks very small, innocent, and scared. He’s not big enough to speak out against the bigger boys bullying sweater boy.

0:22

The frame changes to a kid in the every backseat near the emergency exit. He is standing up looking forwards fidgeting with his hands, probably looking at his classmate being strangled. His eyes are a bit wide and his fidgeting hands makes him appear nervous or concerned. He then looks down at his hands, like he is a bit sad that he cannot stand up and help sweater boy.

0:23

The camera catches more faces of the students in the bus near the back. There are two guys whose eyes is looking forward, slightly to the right. It is implying that they are looking at sweater boy who is located near the middle of the bus. They look concerned with their mouth slightly parted but they are staring blankly like they have no idea how to help sweather boy.

The purpose of the video is to expose to parents and students what happens when one student is being targeted by bigger kids. The video showed that other students are watching; however,  they stare blankly and cant’ find the courage to stand up against the bullies. The video clearly captures the fear, the unsureness in the kids when they see bullying take place. I think the video is targetted at the parents because in the end of the video, there are texts that says “Teach Your Kids How to Deal with Bullying.” I think the parents would feel the need to encourage their kids to speak out more. Additionally, the video could  target students as well, making them feel compassion for the victim and bullying and sense that being a bystander is looked down upon; therefore, feeling encouraged to stand up next time.

0:01 second into this PSA

1

The background is white with a slight vignette. There are two wine glasses in frame they are being held by 2 individual hands and they are held parallel/facing each other, symmetrically across the left and right of the frame. It is as if these hands are moving in for a toast however these wine glasses proceed to inch closer to each other unusually slowly.

Most likely, due to this being a PSA, this ad is going to be about drinking responsibly.

0:08

8

The toast has been achieved; perhaps with too much enthusiasm, for the wine glasses have become destroyed upon impact. Glass has fragmented violently. Drinking can be destructive.

0:11

11

The Wine Glasses have been rendered completely destroyed. The manner in which the wine glasses moved was ominously without hesitation. There was nothing holding back these glasses from destroying each other and after it happens the hands just back away towards their side of the frame again without hesitation. Almost mechanically. Coldly.

Wine has been splattered helplessly due to its container being smashed into fragments. This is the death for the wine as it spills helplessly out of frame.

0:14

14

The next image is of glasses of beer, being held by their handles, starting in the same exact position as the wine glasses. They are also moving similarly, unusually, coldly, slowly, towards each other. Will they perform differently?

0:16

16

…No they do not.

0: 18

18

The Beer glasses, as well, have been completely destroyed in the exact same fashion. The hands retreat back to their appropriate side of the frame still holding the former handles to their former mugs. This goes to show that not only wine glasses can be destroyed but beer glasses also. The contents of the glasses just like before have been spilled about with no way to contain them.

So, now it has been shown that no matter the type of glass, or contents within the glass, they will all be destroyed the same way.

0:22

22

The next image is the exact same starting image as the wine and beer except this time it appears to be simple whisky glasses; which seem to contain whisky on the rocks. They are being gently gripped by the hands in a usual glass holding fashion.

The commercial has shown that wine and beer become destroyed upon impact of the toast. If the whisky glasses do not explode this commercial will obviously be promoting whisky. However, this is a PSA, so most likely it is not trying to advertise whisky. Therefore; most likely, these glasses will explode upon impact as well.

0:23

23

Surprisingly, a third hand has come into the mix. It reaches up and out from the bottom/middle of the frame to catch the glass of whiskey that was coming from the left of the frame. It also cushions the impact of the glass that was coming from the right, by placing itself between the two glasses.

This shows that a third party can put a stop to these “crashes”. Crashes may be too accurate of a word here. This PSA is most likely about drinking and driving.

Therefore this third hand must represent someone of non alcoholic influence since it is not holding a glass of its own. This hand has put a stop to the crash showing that these crashes can be prevented if one simply isn’t being influenced by alcohol.

0:24

24

There you have it. The words “Drinking and driving can kill a friendship” have now shown up right above the halted glasses of whisky. Perhaps this sober hand represents an innocent friend getting caught between the recklessness of the opposing inebriated drivers and not just someone putting a stop to the wreckage.

This PSA shows through it’s multiple types of beverages and glasses. That any type of person in any type of vehicle, if under influence, can get destroyed. The only common factor is the alcohol. Omit alcohol and that creates more sober hands which can save more drunken people from crashing.

0:01 The ad starts with a dark, empty classroom. On the one wall you can see some sunlight from the windows streaming in. In the room older-looking, wooden desks and a chalk board. Indicating that the classroom might be older, or in an older school. Carved into the back of one of the desks are the words “we’ve been labeled”.

0:03 The ad continues with the camera facing a desk in a dark room. The floor and the desk still wooden and older looking. There’s also a wooden pencil placed in the crease on the top of the desk. The words “we’ve been angry” are carved onto the top left side of the desk.

0:05 The ad changes to a different scene of a brick wall with a lot of windows. The windows look older, and the bricks have changed colors and are clearly not new. There’s a sign with black lettering that says, “no roller skating skateboarding or bicycle riding”.

0:06 The scene changes again to a fence with a white sign on it. In black letters it says “NO ROLLER SKATING SKATEBOARDING” and in small red letters in between it says we’ve been controlled. It looks like a zoomed in picture of the previous frame.

0:10 Is a blurred out background of a school hallway. On the way below the blurry window panes it say’s “we’ve been hopeless”.

0:13 Now the scene changes from a school to a bedroom. On the wall of random magazine cutouts and pictures is a torn piece of notebook with the words “we’ve been miserable” written on them.

0:15 A foggy car windshield appears and the view is from the inside of the car. On the foggy night windshield, with headlights in the window, the words “we’ve been hurt” are written by a finger. The video has these quotes with “we’ve been ___” because they’re trying to express what’s led them to make them feel this way and the emotions they’ve experienced.

0:19 It’s a dark lonely gymnasium in a school. Theres three door panels where light is shining in. On the doors the words “we’ve been lonely” are written. There’s a single chair in the corner of the room as a symbol of the loneliness they’re experiencing.

0:20 The scene changes to a light bathroom with lots of light. On the mirror is the reflection of the sinks, and in red lipstick the words “we’ve been invisible” are written. I think the words are purposely written on the mirror to symbolize the fact that they can see themselves but feel invisible to everyone else.

0:24 It’s a classroom with desks again but the room is brighter. On a bright orange poster board in the back it says “we’ve been judged” in green letters. The scenes are starting to change from dark, sad locations to brighter, happier rooms indicating a happier time and hopefulness.

0:26 A black converse lays on the carpeted brown floor with it’s shoelaces untied. On the white bottom part, “we’ve been abandoned” is written in blue sharpie.

0:27 It’s a dark window pain, with an orange glow. The word’s “we’ve been lost” are written on the outside of the window in black.

0:36 A sidewalk in the sunshine appears and the words “we’ve been happy” are written in bright yellow chalk.

0:38 A black chalkboard reappears in a brighter classroom and the words “we’ve been inspired” are written in white chalk. The quotes are going back and forth in emotion meaning they don’t always feel sad, but happy at times too.

0:45 An old brick wall has been written on in blue chalk. The words “we’ve been supported” are written.

0:46 A bright grey locker appears, in a brightened hallway. The word’s “we’ve been there” are written on the bottom of the locker.

0:48 Then more bus seats appear and multiple bus seats have the words “we’ve been there” written on them.

0:49 More wooden bleacher benches appear with the words “we’ve been there”.

0:50 Every step in the stairwell has the words “we’ve been there” written on them. “We’ve been there” repeated over and over indicates that they are not alone in life, and there are others going through the same thing. They have people who can support them.

0:01- Three high school aged girls appear on screen. They are walking down steps to what appears to be a high school. Perhaps they just finished school and are departing. They all seem to be in good mood and keeping a conversation between the three.

0:04- A young boy with a backpack appears in the shot. It appears that the young man is high school age and turns to the one blond hair girl to talk. It is a possibility that he is a classmate and that he needs help on a homework problem. It must have been something good towards the girl because she starts to smile when she faces the camera.

0:07- The other girl that is with the blond haired girl turns to her and says something. The talk is about anything because they have straight faces, so the conversation is not something bad nor good. The blond girls smile gets bigger so the boy must have said something good to her to make her have such a vibrant smile.

0:11- A typical high school football practice with players on the field and a coach. The coach has his mouth open with intent to talk. He might be telling the players to do a certain drill or yelling at someone.

0:14- The Coach on the field turns his attention to the blond girl from the first scene. The blond girls expression changes. The coach might have said something negative towards her because she develops a negative facial expression. Perhaps he is her gym teacher and she didn’t preform in class or has a brother on the team that dint show up to practice.

0:19- The scene changes to an escalator in what appears to be a shopping mall. The trio of girls from the first scene are going down the escalator, perhaps to a store or the food court. Two boys, high school aged, appear to be discussing something on the opposite escalator. It must have to do with one of the girls because one point is pointing his finger right towards them.

0:22-:24- The two boys pointing are pointing directly at the blond haired girl. They are speaking about something that has to do with the blond hair. Its a possibility that they know her and she did something bad because her facial expression goes from happy to express stress or worry.

0:25-0:36- The trio of girls appear to be going into a movie theater to watch a movie. The blond girl hands her ticket and expresses a genuine smile to the ticket taker. The expression is quick to change because she starts to express worry or a similar emotion. This state changes due to the ticket taker saying something to her. Perhaps he accused her of not being old enough for the movie , or that her ticket wasn’t real. The ticket taker continues to stare at her while she walks to her room.

0:40-0:42- The scene opens up to a picnic area with palm trees as umbrellas over tables, perhaps it is a themed eatery. An older man, perhaps a janitor of a company is staring at the blond haired girl. He might recognize the young woman and starts to talk to her. The blond haired girls expression changes from pleased to worried within microseconds. Perhaps the man said something to her that made her uneasy. It must have made her upset because the camera zooms in on her uneasy face and she gets up and starts to quickly leave the establishment.

Shampoo .01

00:01 – The advert begins with a plastic shampoo bottle seemingly placed next to a tub. There is typical tiling of a bathroom on the wall in the background and the porcelain tub closer to the foreground. The bathroom is most likely part of a house or hotel, as it is fairly generic in nature. This shot is focused on the shampoo, hinting that it will be the primary character in the advert. The shampoo itself is very generic, meaning it’s very unlikely that the advert is for a specific brand.

Shampoo .03

00:03 – The shot then skips to a wider view of the bathroom, with the notably present, although out of focus, shampoo bottle taking up the foreground. It almost looks as if the shampoo bottle is “watching” the bathroom. There is a small boy in the bathroom using the sink. The bathroom as a whole seems to be rather upscale in nature, however it is unclear whether this has anything to do with the nature of the advert.

Shampoo .05

00:05 – The camera zooms in on the child, giving a clear image of him in the mirror as a young Asian boy. Perhaps this will hold significance if he appears later in the advert? He also appears to be drowsy, as if he had just woken up and is about to take on the day. He has yet to shower, as the mirror is unfogged. This implies that the shampoo bottle hasn’t even been used, yet is still a large focus of the advert.

Shampoo .06

00:06 – The time of the advert then switches, once again with the shampoo present. Although to the side, it is very much in focus along with the fogged up glass shower wall. This allows us to infer that the bottle was recently used. A woman is present in the background and seems to be applying makeup while wearing more formal attire, maybe getting ready for an event of some sort.

Shampoo .08

00:08 – The focus of the shot switches, revealing that indeed the woman is at the sink/mirror applying makeup and getting ready for something. It is presumed to be nighttime, as the lights in the room are on. It should also be noted that the format of the bathroom is very similar to the one with the boy, perhaps meaning it is the same one and that the lady is either the boy’s mother or his older sister.

Shampoo .09

00:09 – Shot change, this time someone in a purple bathrobe is with the good ‘ol shampoo bottle. They are grabbing the bottle as if about to use it for something. This something is most likely not a shower, as they are grabbing the bottle from the outside. Once again, the glass is fogged up hinting that the shower has recently been used.

Shampoo .11

00:11 – The person in the purple bathrobe is revealed to be a young Asian girl, too young to be the woman in the previous scene and not a boy enough to be from the first scene. She has the shampoo bottle in her hands but is not using it for normal shampoo purposes, but instead utilizing just the bottle itself as a microphone stand-in. She is walking through the bathroom, which once again is clearly the same as the setting from the first two scenes. This also appears to take place in the afternoon, judging by the angle the light is coming in through the window.

Shampoo .12

00:12 – This next shot is very reminiscent of the first, as it is taken in the exact same location and with the same lighting and positioning of objects around the shampoo bottle. The key difference, however, is that the bottle is showing some classic “I’ve used this shampoo a lot” wear and tear by having crusty contents caked on and around the lid. This develops somewhat of a connection with the bottle. Although completely inanimate, it has been shown to have somewhat of a life cycle, being used for multiple things and now visibly aging.

Shampoo .13

00:13 – Very suddenly, the old shampoo bottle is jerked away and replaced by a brand new one. The person in charge of the replacement would seem to be a woman, judging my the hand structure and jewelry. Perhaps it could be the lady that was getting ready in the bathroom before? Or maybe a different member of the family? It turns out it had reached the end of its life cycle, and no longer serves a purpose in the bathroom, being favored by a bottle with fresh contents.

Shampoo .14

00:14 – The old bottle is taken by the replacer and tossed dramatically into a recycling bin, as was identified by the universal recycling symbol. The frames are put into slow motion as the bottle hits the inside of the can. The casual manner it is done in hints that this is a regular occurrence and happens, or should happen, a lot.

Shampoo .15

00:15 – The camera then fades instead of jump cutting like it had been doing previously when switching scenes. This suggests maybe a change in scenery, maybe a new location as opposed to the bathroom we had been so accustomed to throughout the rest of the advert. From the recycling bin, the camera switches to what appears to be a comb, which also has an identical logo printed on it.

Shampoo .16

00:16 – The comb is the center of the image now, with the camera following it as it’s picked up. It is moving quickly away from its original resting place which seemed to be a bathroom sink. It is unable to be determined if the bathroom is the same as the one previously pictured.

Shampoo .18

00:18 – Aside from this shot showing one of the creepiest smirks in existence, it also reveals where the comb was headed. A white man, different from anyone previously shown, is using it to comb his hair. He is wearing a dress shirt as is determined by his collar. He is presumably using the comb to get ready for a day or work or meeting of some sort. It is entirely possible that he is a member of the family in the beginning of the advert, as an older male figure was never shown and it is possible, with a very basic observation of race, that he could be the father of the kids. He is also not looking at himself in the mirror, but rather his eyes seem to be directed towards something by his side.

Shampoo .22

00:22 – After four whole seconds of that guy combing his hair, he moves the comb downwards, with the camera following it the entire way. It is then apparent that he is giving the comb to a very young boy for him to use, who is assumed to be what he was looking at previously. This boy is not the same as the one from the first scene as he is a bit younger and very different physically.

Shampoo .23

00:23 – A wider shot shows the two characters standing next to one another combing their hair together using the comb from the first shot. The bathroom is certainly not the same as the one from the first three scenes, as it is considerably smaller and has differing features. This implies heavily that this is a different setting entirely, probably a different family.

Shampoo .25

00:25 – A jump cut then skips to the comb next to the sink alone, without the two characters that were just in the room. It is placed in such a way that the recycling symbol is clear and obvious, very reminiscent of the image on the side of the recycling can that the original shampoo bottle was thrown into. The text “Give your garbage another life.” also centers itself across the screen. This tells the viewer that the shampoo bottle was transformed through the magic of recycling into a comb. Despite losing its use as a shampoo bottle, it was revived as a comb. The advert is entitled, “A Bottle Can Dream,” personifying the bottle that has since been returned from the dead and “fulfills its dream,” in essence.

Shampoo .28

00:28 – The last frame of the advert is a black screen with the word “Recycle.” printed across the middle. It is in italic, very contrasting text that is very clear (white on black is so much nicer than black on white, right?). A website for further information is also given along with the organization Keep America Beautiful from the Ad Council, who put out the advert.

A girl with red hair appears to be in the bathroom facing a mirror. The faucet is running and it seems she is putting water on her face to wash her face or clean off the tears.

0:02

The camera flips to a different scene of a black boy in his teenage years, average dressed, that looks like he is studying for school. It looks like he lives in a nice home. He and the red haired girl must have something in common.

0:04

Now they are showing another kid, again in his teenage years, who is taking pills from a prescription bottle. He looks like a muscular kid who is wearing a varsity jacket so we know he plays a sport.

0:05

The video goes back to the girl with red hair. She also looks like she is in her teenage years, and appears she is carelessly tossing pills into her throat.

0:07

The video now goes back to the black kid who is also taking pills. Can all these 3 people who are taking pills be going through a rough phase in their life that explains why they are using drugs? Perhaps they are abusing these drugs. Do they really need it or get prescribed it?

0:08

The video switches back to the big kid wearing the varsity jacket, a girl with blonde hair, and another two kids that are in their teenage years as and it looks like they are talking to each other in a classroom. The girl with blonde hair is starring at the kid with that varsity jacket. He is holding a bottle of pills.

0:10

The camera zooms in on the girls face as maybe she has a crush on the boy or that she just wants the pills.

0:11

The video switches to a different classroom where the black kid and the girl with blonde hair are together in the same room. The black boy has his books in front him on his desk where you can see a perception bottle with pills underneath his books, possibly to keep his drug use a secret. The boy is looking at his side for some reason. The girl appears to just be sitting doing her work on her desk.

0:12

The boy looks over to his other side while he grabs his bottle of pills underneath his books.

0:13

The camera again zooms in on the girl starring at the black kid while she is taking off one of her earphone plug. We now know these 3 kids go to the same school.

0:14

The camera zooms out. The boy is taking pills in the classroom while the girl is starring at him. This girl seems to want the pills and may also have a drug related problem, just as the boy might.

0:16

The video switches to what it looks like to be outside the high school where the girl with blonde hair is standing on her phone and the redhead girl accidently bumps into her and you can see a bottle of pills that comes flying out of the redhead’s jacket.

0:19

The girl with the blonde hair picks up the bottle and looks as she is happy about having the bottle of pills in her possession. It is illegal to take or use prescription pills that aren’t prescribed to you.

0:21

The girl slips the bottle in her jacket and looks like she has sort of a happy, evil smirk on her face. This isn’t a good look; she obviously looks like she is going to take the pills or possibly sell them, which is also illegal.

0:23

The video switches to an outdoor burial with a group of teenage kids surrounding a coffin. You can see a picture frame on the coffin but the camera is not close enough to see who is in the picture. Can the person who died be the girl who picked up those pills that didn’t belong to her?

0:25

The camera zooms in on the black kid, the kid who was wearing the varsity jacket, and the redhead. All three kids are standing next to each other. Is it maybe because they are friends or just all have all the same drug addiction problem? We don’t see the girl with blonde hair, is it maybe that she is in the coffin?

0:28

The video ends off by zooming on the picture frame on the coffin. The picture is the girl with the blonde hair; her drug abuse leads to her death. This video is for prescription drug abuse awareness. If you have a drug problem please don’t let it take over your life, talk to someone and find help.
