Core Value I. My work demonstrates that I used a variety of social and interactive practices that involve recursive stages of exploration, discovery, conceptualization, and development.
For my research paper, I spend many hours just on reading and rereading articles, watching videos and searching for the information that would help me to provide unprepared readers with all the necessary information, so they will be able to understand my position and point of view on the topic that I chose. Because I was familiar with the topic that I chose, I knew what I was looking for on the Internet, however, even then it was a tremendous amount of work. After I found all the needed information, I had to write many drafts, making sure that I don’t miss anything important, that I don’t repeat same things over and over, that everything is organized and clear. Teacher’s feedback was very helpful for me, because I had a fresh point of view of the reader, not familiar with my topic.
Core Value II. My work demonstrates that I placed texts into conversation with one another to create meaning by synthesizing ideas from various discourse communities.
In my paper, I presented multiple points of view on the revolution. I was talking about people who started the revolution, their reasons and things they had to go through. Also, I provided all the positions against the revolution. I talked about the president, his life, about people that were supporting either revolutionists and president and how it affected them. I tried my best to explain all the positions against radical changes in the country, and I provided reasons, why revolution was necessary at that moment. I found some official news reports about protesters and their camp from journalists that were supporting president and from those that were supporting EU integration, and I combined both in my paper.
Core Value III. My work demonstrates that I rhetorically analyzed the purpose, audience, and contexts of my own writing and other texts and visual arguments.
When writing my essays, I spent plenty of time rereading separate sentences and whole paragraphs, making sure that story flows without gaps or jumping back and forward and that my dictionary is appropriate. I tried my best to present the widest possible picture of situation for the audience, while insisting on my position as the right one. In all my papers, I was making decisions that were supposed to make readers understand everything as if they were involved in it and touch the most unprepared and unfamiliar readers. Also, I read different stories from different writers about the revolution, and I borrowed some of their ideas in my essays.
Core Value IV: My work demonstrates that I have met the expectations of academic writing by locating, evaluating, and incorporating illustrations and evidence to support my own ideas and interpretations.
In my paper, I wrote many sentences providing my opinion and point of view on the situations while supporting them with historical facts from official sources and news reports. I’ve watched many videos from the first to the last day of revolution and many of them I used to provide as many reason as possible to support my idea. Some of the videos provided me wider information than written editions that I used for my essay, so I had a lot of information to work with. Also, I found articles with opinions and research from honorable journalists, to support my own ideas. For example, I found all the numbers of protesters, and dates of events from official sources.
Core Value V. My work demonstrates that I respect my ethical responsibility to represent complex ideas fairly and to the sources of my information with appropriate citation.
While writing my paper, I was making sure to remember all the sources that I used for my essays. For every source that I specifically used in any of my essays, I provided links and names of sources in “Work Cited”. I did not use any quotes, mostly because none of sources that I was using were in English, so I preferred to use my own words. I found many valuable ideas in other authors works, so I reworded many official reports and some of reasonable ideas from their articles. Also, I made sure, that I cited every single source that was used for it. In my research paper, I provided direct links to the sources where I borrowed my information from.
A good start, xChuki.
