Magic Hour :30 | Pets and People Together

0:01

A young girl who appears to have down syndrome, pokes her head around a wall with an excited look on her face. It seems like she’s in someone’s house. She’s trying to get someone’s attention that is behind that wall.

0:02

The camera turns to who the young girl is looking at. She was looking at a woman who is expressionless who I assume is her mother. The mother is not making eye contact with her, however looking to the side down at something.

0:03

The mother is looking at a digital clock. The time is 5:00. It is still light out so this either takes place in the spring or summer.

0:05

The mother looks away from the clock down at what I assume to be the eye leave of her daughter. She says something with a smile on her face.

0:08

The daughter slowly runs from one side of her kitchen to the other with an excited dog running behind her. She stops to reach into what looks like a large bag of dog food.

0:09

The camera pans down to the floor where we see the daughter feed the dog. The dog begins to eat the food

0:12

Two new people, a man and a woman, appear on the screen. They are outside of a house. The man hands the woman what appears to be another back of dog food.

0:13

The young girl is now running around the neighborhood with her dog on a leash and her mother walking behind her.

0:15

The camera cuts to a different clock inside of what looks like the mother and daughters house because of the paint on the wall. The time is 5:00 again.

0:16

The same girl runs into the kitchen where her mom is waiting for her.

0:18

The little girl feeds her dog.

0:19

The camera cuts to a new building. A man looks like he is responsible for a bunch of dog food because he has boxes in front of him labeled pet food. He’s looking down at something in front of him.

0:20

It seems like a donation because someone dropped another bag of dog food into the box.

0:21

The dog and the little girl are hanging out under her kitchen table while she colors.

0:22

The clock strikes 5 again.

0:23

The dogs bowl gets filled

0:24

The camera cuts to what looks like a parking lot of a building. Someone places a bag of dog food into the trunk of a car.

0:27

The camera cuts back into the little girl’s kitchen where she’s watching her dog eat.

0:28

Over that same image from the 0:27 time stamp, the words “Be a helper”, “foster a pet”, “find a lost pet” and “PetsAndPeopleTogether.org” pop up.

“Child Car Safety”

0:00–0:01

Within the first second of the advertisement, the camera shows a heterosexual, African American couple standing in front of their house with their two children. The father looks like he could be in his mid-40s. He has a folded baby stroller slung on his right shoulder, and a bag attached with baby toys and two stuffed animals slung on his left shoulder. He is additionally carrying a bagel in his right hand and a travel cup in his left hand. He also has a gray blanket {or jacket} on his right forearm. The expression on his face is tranquil, confident. Like he can conquer anything that stands in his way. He is also gradually turning his head to his left, observing the landscape before him. His wife looks a tad bit younger than him. She slowly, but stylishly, turns her head to her left, flipping her wavy, dark brown hair. Just like her husband, her face is radiating with confidence. She almost looks smug with her small smile. A green bag attached with baby toys {and perhaps a blue and yellow scarf or towel}is slung on her right shoulder. She is carrying her youngest child in her left arm while also carrying a blue and red backpack in her left hand. She is additionally carrying a juice box in her right hand. Her youngest child is a boy and cannot walk yet. If he is of walking-age, he would be walking along with his sibling. He looks like he could be one-and-a-half to two-years-old. He is wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans. He also has dark brown skin and an afro of dark curly hair. The other child is a girl, and is walking in between her mother and father. She looks a year-or-two older than her brother. She is wearing an expression of excitement on her face – beaming with joy. She is wearing a white bow in her dark, curly brown hair, and a blue shirt beneath white overalls. She is carrying a stuffed animal in her left hand. Their house, shown in the back of them, looks like a ranch. The part surrounding the door, which is white, is brick and the outside is gray.

Perhaps the director set up the beginning of the ad this way to indicate to the audience that the couple has their hands full. The director may have wanted this ad to be instantly relatable for parents raising little children. This can additionally mean that the target audience may be parents.

0:02-0:04

The camera shows the mother flipping her hair again in a confident manner. The family starts walking away from their house with their luggage at hand. The father is making conversation, looking at his wife and down at his daughter. The camera cuts to a close up of the mother’s face. She is wearing a smug smile, gazing out into the distance. Everything seems to be good.

0:04-0:08

Suddenly, the daughter starts to tug on one of the toys hanging on the bag the father is carrying. She mouths the word, “please” and begins to really tug on the toy. Chaos hits. The stroller slides off the father’s shoulder. He still has a good grip on the rest of the stuff, but the mother is frustrated. The camera cuts to a close up of her completely changing her confident expression. She now looks startled and less assured in herself and her family. The camera cuts back to the family as a whole. The father is seen picking up the stroller with much effort. His daughter merely watches as he struggles. The mother is adjusting the weight of her son in her arms. She looks exhausted and physically hurt. The camera cuts back to a close up of her in her frustration and pain. She is clearly struggling, too.

This is a comical scene. The director most certainly had designed this ad to be relatable for parents. The director wanted there to be an “all is well” part leading to an “uh-oh.” There are plenty of uh-ohs in a parent’s day.

0:09-0:13

The camera cuts to the father dropping the other bags slung on his left arm. His daughter is seen still attempting to grab the toy attached to the bag. The mother is smiling now with her handful of stuff, talking to her daughter. The camera cuts to a close up of the father now biting down on the bagel {holding it with his teeth} as he attempts to get a better grip on the other stuff he is carrying. He is an absolute mess. His wife is seen walking ahead of him with the children. She now looks stressed.

0:13-0:20

The father is struggling to walk now. He is seen behind the mother and children dropping the bags and stuffed animals. The daughter is now in front of all of them, unfazed by the stress her parents are under. She is smiling and looking very excited at what is in front of her. The camera then cuts to the family getting to their car. The daughter is seen dropping her stuffed animal and backpack on the ground. The mother puts her drink on the top of the car. The father and mother are seen putting their kids in the car. The father is buckling his daughter’s seatbelt. The camera cuts to a close up of her seatbelt being buckled.

0:20-0:24

Out of nowhere, the daughter erupts into a panic and starts to throw popcorn everywhere in the car and at her father. The father looks disgusted, frustrated, and flabbergasted. The mother is seen buckling in her son’s seatbelt with ease.

0:24-0:30

The camera cuts to a blue screen conveying four small images: an infant car seat, a toddler car seat, an adult car seat with a seatbelt shown across it, and a seatbelt.

Rhetoric:

The director chose to show the audience these images to prove the point that parenting is a messy job, and that nothing is perfect. No matter how prepared you may be as a parent, there will always be difficulties along the way. This is especially shown in the opening scene when the parents look confident, and in the scene when the daughter causes the father to drop all his stuff, causing chaos. However, as long as they are doing the best they can to protect their children, everything will be okay. That is the message the director is trying to get across. And this is conveyed through the importance of seatbelts and car safety.

Logos: The logos part of the ad is that the family is getting ready to go on a trip of some-sort. This can be seen by the amount of stuff the parents are carrying to their car.

Pathos: When the parents are struggling to get the children and stuff to their car, it evokes feelings of sympathy and perhaps humor in the audience. No one likes to see people struggle. However, the relatability is what makes it humorous.

Ethos: This Ad, produced by the Ad Council, is from the people who work for the NHTSA, which is a government agency. At the end of the ad, the link to the government agency is displayed, making the ad credible and reliable to trust.

   0:01-0:05

In the first second it is a first person view of a kitchen. The kitchen is in the middle of the screen with white walls on the left and right side. On the right side of the kitchen is a door with six windows. It makes me believe that it is a back door that leads outside. In the bottom right side of the video is a circle with a white outline. It looks like a mini map that would be seen in a video game. In the bottom left side of the screen is a box that makes the background blurry. In the box it looks to be a chat that you would see in video games with teams that you need to take to. The first name with a message is cdrone714. Through the chat it is revealed that this cdrone714 is the person in the house. They are talking with a jnixc who we know is not with cdrone714 as jnixc asks what they see. As cdrone714 moves around we see opposite of the kitchen is a living room area with a gray couch and a chair. There are a pair of windows, television, a lamp and paintings.

   0:06-0:15

The house appears to be well lived in as there are blankets tossed about the couch. Cdrone714 turns after typing that they heard a noise to reveal a set of stairs. They move up the stairs. Jnixc reveals that they are almost wherever cdrone714 is in the chat box. Cdrone714 moves around the thin hallway. In the hallway there is a window and a slightly open door on the right side. The open door leads to a bedroom. The bed has more blankets tossed on it. On the left side is a thin table with frames that cdrone714 is quick to turn towards. One of the frames gives a quick look at what appears to be a couple with a baby. Cdrone714 opens the drawer and in the drawer are clothes and what looks like a box of 50 bullets. In the chat cdrone714 tells jnixc that the gun isn’t in the drawer. Cdrone714 is quick to look up from the drawer and head out of the door to the hallway.

   0:16-0:30

The rest of the hallway that cdrone714 had their back to is shown. There are 3 more doors and more photos hanging up. Cdrone714 and jnixc continue their conversation with jnixc being confused as to what cdrone714 means and where the said gun is. Cdrone714 is moving very frantically and it is making the camera have a shaky and uneasy feeling. Cdrone714 peers into the door on the right side and continues back to the door in the back. In the chat cdrone714 mentions someone named Cameron. Before the door opens the screen goes black the words “with gun suicide, there is no extra life. Store your gun safety: locked, unloaded, away from ammo.”

Visual Rewrite—Pinkmonkey32

0:01- in this opening scene you get a young woman of asian descent. We know she is Asian by her facial features. She has long black straight hair on the corded landline phone and walks parallel to the counter, across the camera screen, while dragging her hand across the edge in a lost in the conversation kind of way.. She seems interested in the conversation because she has a big smile by the end of second 1. The kitchen looks old and outdated for a woman of her age so it’s to be assumed she is in a parents home or maybe a grandparent. You can tell this by the choice of outdated cabinets, dishwasher ,corded landline phone, and countertops.

The girl is wearing a long sleeve shirt with a t- shirt on top, this is important because the arm that is touching the counter which is her left arm has its sleeve rolled up causing me to believe she has just finished cooking. I feel this way because at the very start of the scene she starts standing right infront of the sink almost like she was washing dishes. You know she is finished cooking or cleaning because the counters are completely clean and so is she which means she has already cleaned up the kitchen mess.

The camera is also moving and following her as she moves across the kitchen as well as it is placed outside of the doorframe to the kitchen. I believe the camera is following her because she is deep in conversation on the phone to show her commitment to the phone call.

0:02- In the next clip we get a switch in perspective and we move to the kitchen where we find a man who looks to be the girl’s father/ owner of the home. He is sitting at a table and presumably eating the meal the girl just cooked for him. The frame slightly moves upwards from the table to his face to show that he’s eating.

This man’s image was particularly picked out; he has very thin, very short, gray hair. And big black framed glasses. These glasses look to be thick, telling me he has bad eyesight. They also specifically put him in a collared shirt which tells me he at one point maintained a stable job where his dress attire was put together. But I infer that he is no longer working because of the way his bones show through the shirt showing how frail he is.

0:03- this frame moves slightly to the left showing more that there is a figure sitting across the table from him, assuming this is the girl that was just standing next to the counter. I am assuming this because the figure has black straight hair like the girl before. As the frame moves over towards her figure the old man looks up from his food and smiles assuming it’s because of something this girl has said on the phone or because she sat down with him.

0:04- this clip has a perspective switch as well, the camera has now been placed in the kitchen and looking in the opposite way through the door frame (so looking out to the living room). The old man and the girl are both standing with blue medical masks on. The girl has her hand on his back showing that he is unstable and she is helping him. The old man has a coat on and is holding on to the door handle to stabilize himself as well as because he is leaving the home.

0:05- while looking at this clip in the same frame as the other you can now tell that the girl is placing a plastic bag into his coat pocket. Assuming they are going to the store.

You can tell by the decor in the living room that this is in fact not her home and is definitely the old mans just based on the old fashioned rug under the table, the old clock, the couch, and the chosen artwork looks faded. The couch specifically has an old outdated pattern to it showing that this couch has to be old.

0:06- in this clip the girl is now by herself sitting in a dining room, she seems stressed and tired based on the facial expression she is making. She is sitting there in a wooden chair at a wooden table, placing what I’m assuming are her fathers supplements into pill containers so that he takes all the right pills on the right days. This is a night and morning pill container which means this man is on a strict schedule and needs these pills at those times to function.

All of the sorting through the pills though draws your attention right to her hands where you can see her wedding band. The wedding band there shows that she’s missing time home with her loved one to take care of her father. Hence why she is so overwhelmed and tired. This causes me to believe the phone call earlier could have been to her loved one that she hasnt had much time to talk too.

0:07- this frame quickly switches to a close up of her face where she quickly turns her ahead to the left in alert to something. Whatever is happening off the left of the screen we know is not alarming based on her face. It’s not the old man because she seems calm in the situation just based on her facial expression.

This could have been a knock on the door or maybe another phone call. As well as it could have just been a noise the house made that didn’t sound familiar.

0:08- 0:09- in these clips you see the girl helping to dress her father and make him look presentable in a bedroom. Over the past few clips you notice now that her clothes have been changing meaning she is here everyday to help her father.

Even more in this clip than others he is positioned in a way that really emphasizes how sick and thin he is. He is turned just enough to show him from the side and also from the front. In this clip she also tugs along the arms of the shirt which show how much extra fabric is just folding over because it’s too big for him now.

Also noted this bedroom has very old curtains that have these palm leaves and pink flowers. Just adding to the old feel of this home and really emphasizing that it’s not her home.

0:10- in this clip you see the girl sitting at the dining room table and the camera is not facing the table but shows just enough of the table and the living room to show both the man and the woman in the frame. The old man is sitting on the couch with the remote in his hand turning up the tv because he can’t hear it. But the woman sitting at the table is on her laptop

0:11- this clip is showing the same image but now you can see the girl slightly turn her head in shock that it is so loud when she is doing work. She does not completely look back at him showing me that she is frustrated but she doesn’t want to take it out on him so she stops herself half way.

0:12-  The camera zooms in on the woman showing her aggressively blinking which shows her annoyance as she places her headphones on her ears. Her gaze is now focused upon her computer again and we assume she is resuming her work.

0:13- the young woman is now lying in the same bedroom that she was dressing her father in showing not only is she helping her dad but she is also staying there with him. You can tell it is the same room based on the curtains that were described before. At this point you can see the exhaustion on her face and can just tell that she is overwhelmed by her situation.

In bed she is on her phone and shaking her head. Based upon those actions you can feel how overwhelmed she is about taking care of her father.

0:14- 0:15-  The camera moves back showing a more wide version of how she is laying down and a box appears on the screen as her fingers move on her phone in a typing motion words start to pop up in the box. Showing that the box is the search bar on her phone. As she types the words “Medicare tips” pops up in the box. This even more shows that she wants help and is struggling to do this all on her own.

We know she’s alone in doing this because of the lack of her mother figure as well as no one else is present in the video making it so you know it’s just her helping.

0:16- in frame 16 the frame starts focusing on a box of files that the woman is going through and then it pans up to her face to show her focus in looking for something like a document or such. There is also another box behind the one she is going through making it so that you see how much of this paperwork she is going through.

0:17-  The frame continues to lift until it gives you a clear image of these boxes sitting on top of what looks to be a treadmill or some type of workout machine. They put this there to show that neither her or her father are working out or getting the exercise that they should be. This treadmill is also very outdated which was another choice to show how old the house is.

0:18- This clip switches to her sitting in what looks to be a home office based on the desk and desk lamp. She is sitting at the desk in front of a pile of boxes full of files. She has been going through these files because there is a stack of them on her desk. She looks overwhelmed based on the fact that she places her hands on her face.

0:19- the girl’s hand switches from covering her face to a position as if she was shielding her face from light, but she’s not. She is using this motion to show her frustration and she’s also using this position to lean against the table showing her exhaustion as well.

0:20- 0:21- The woman is looking out the window at what looks to be a beautiful day out and she still looks sad. This shows she’s having a hard time enjoying things now. The motion of the camera also moves around her while she is all alone, symbolizing how alone she’s feeling. This scene could also be her looking outside symbolizing her looking for clarity and help. This could also symbolize her feeling trapped there and like she can’t enjoy the outside

0:22- in this frame the old man is sitting in his chair reading a book when the girl who previously was somber, runs to him with a tablet in her hand. She then gets down on her knees to be level with him and starts to show something that’s on the tablet

0:23-0:24- this clip is zoomed in on their faces as she gives him the tablet. They zoom in because for the first time since clip one we see the woman smile. Her pure joy in this scene is shown through that and the way she has her arms up around him. The old man is smiling too because of how happy the woman is.

0:25-0:26- we see the woman planting a pot outside as the words aarp.org/caregiving show up on the screen. We can only see her hands but we know it’s her based off of the plaid shirt she is wearing. From this we can tell that the woman used this resource and has now found a way to make sure her father is taken care of without all the stress

0:27-0:30- the frame is moved from just her hands planting the pot to her face where you can see how happy and relieved she is to be doing something that is bringing her joy. The tips she used when looking them up in bed worked and she can now relax and do things. This ad was meant to promote and show how much stress is put upon caregiving and that with just using their website she was to not feel trapped inside and was able to go outside and do things that she wanted too.

Needs a Title

The justification for the existence of police is that they exist to keep us, the citizens, safe. Ancient and modern history has shown time and time again that this is not the case. But, by definition, they are employees of the state. The supposed goal and purpose of police is to be servants of the people. The same way politicians, who are elected to the positions they hold, are meant to be most beneficial to the people they serve. Politicians like police, are private citizens with political power, the difference between the two is that there is a system in place that makes sure politicians are able to be held responsible for their actions; be it checks and balances, federal prosecution, or simply not being reelected. The power police hold is only kept in check by their fellow officers.  The two careers are similar in the way politicians end up looking out for their own wellbeing, interests, and motives, and police end up protecting themselves and their partners. Policing has become more than a job, being a police officer is a lifestyle that completely indoctrinates any person that partakes in any role in the system that has been created. There can be no good or bad cops when the act of being a police officer inherently corrupts any cops’ sense of morality.

In order to go through training the police develop an overtly strong sense of camaraderie rallying themselves against the people they have, apparently, been created to serve. The training environment creates a mentality within police officers that separates them from the people they serve. So, when they are serving they hold a Us Vs them or even us or them mentality. Pitting cops against the people they are ‘by design’ created to serve. The mentality created is one that changes law enforcement’s role from a servant serving the law and its people. To a role where they become the law, abiding by a higher jurisdiction where they create the rules they want to follow. If we look further into the history of police and how they came to be we can make the conclusion that this was no accident. Police are, by design, created to abuse and terrorize. In the previous portion of the essay I recognized the relationship between slavery and policing. To refresh these direct correlations I reintroduce, Gary Potter, a social justice professor at the University of Eastern Kentucky, he had the same questions I do when it came to the development of policing in the united states, he said this, “ Slave patrols had three primary functions: (1) to chase down, apprehend, and return to their owners, runaway slaves; (2) to provide a form of organized terror to deter slave revolts; and, (3) to maintain a form of discipline for slave-workers who were subject to summary justice, outside of the law, if they violated any plantation rules.” From this quote alone we can already see the way this mindset has been adapted to modern policing. They were told to deter slave revolts in the modern day, they brutalize protesters. They create and inspire fear. We as a society can fool ourselves into a false sense of morality when it comes to the police and lie about why they were made and why they still exist but the police’s own actions incriminate themselves.

People can hold the claim that it’s just a few bad apples that give policing as a career a bad reputation. I believe a tree with rotten roots can only ever produce bad apples. It’s been established that the ideas and expectations the police were created to continue into the modern day. From the National Law Enforcement Officer Fund, “Slave patrols were no less violent in their control of African Americans; they beat and terrorized as well. Their distinction was that they were legally compelled to do so by local authorities. In this sense, it was considered a civic duty—one that in some areas could result in a fine if avoided.” It was not only encouraged but expected of the police to be terrorist to the Black community. Terrorizing normal black people or even our most prominent figures, like Martin Luther King Jr., whose assassination  has been confirmed to have been executed by law enforcement.

The police’s modern abuse of power can be traced back to the guidelines set by slave patrollers also, “-subject to summary justice, outside of the law-” In the times this quote was written the justice would be subjecting the escaped enslaved people to beatings, maulings or worse: death. In today’s times this mindset has only continued to be exasperated and utilized by government officials, police brutality in any form occurs because the police are making themselves the judge, jury and executioner. Most often times when someone has been killed by the police there is justification given that they were committing a crime beforehand in the case of George Floyd, according to the APD News George Floyd was arrested, “about a possible counterfeit $20 bill being used at a corner store” It is a purposeful and deliberate endless chain of terror enacted by the police. It’s not a mistake of the lack of morality they’ve been trained to have when it comes to policing.

The idea of policing is one that continues to keep so much of this country in a wonderland. Full of false hope and dreams of the police being the country’s Knight in shining armor. The reality of police and the way they function is a much more grim truth. One that, I hope, would change your perspective on policing in this country permanently. Modern policing tactics and belief systems have been adopted and accepted from Slave Patrollers. People whose entire mission was to keep people enslaved. The police of the modern day continue on with the same mission of those that came before and shouldn’t continue to be able to exist. The police are brutal, inhumane and violent.

Definition Essay- Queen Random

The justification for the existence of police is that they exist to keep us, the citizens, safe. Ancient and modern history has shown time and time again that this is not the case. But, by definition, they are employees of the state. The supposed goal and purpose of the police is to be servants of the people. In the same way, politicians, who are elected to the positions they hold, are meant to be most beneficial to the people they serve. Four people leave a building that appears to be a house. The weather appears to be a seemingly decent day out. The people appear to be in light, almost summer-y clothing. They walk out of what appears to be a brick house with very nicely done hedges and a ladybug flag stuck behind the hedges. It seems like a safe neighborhood. Seeing people going outside of their house always tends to be a good sign. The people appear to be dress in light, almost late spring, summer-y clothing.

There are two colored adults who are walking out of the home with two children. The adults, a man and a woman, look around to be in their late forties, mid-fifties. Perhaps they could be the grandparents to these children and they were babysitting? Perhaps they are not related to these children whatsoever and these two are, in fact, babysitters. Upon further examination of this “couple” there does not appear to be a wedding band on their hands. They might be a couple but decides not to wear their wedding bands. Or, they are the siblings of the parent (the mother of father) of the children they are caring for. They could, in fact be siblings of the children’s father or mother who are also watching them for the day.

The children are very young. The little girl looks about five years old. She is seen with a smile on her face as she leaves the house with the babysitters/aunt and uncle. Wherever they are going, she must be excited. Maybe she gets to see her parents again after a long day of being babysat by her aunt and uncle. Based on Uncle Babysitter’s face, she must have tired him out. He appears to have a stroller, several stuffed toys, a bag, a thermos (Water? Coffee? Alcohol?), and a bagel. He seems frazzled and this little girl most likely made him this way.

Aunt Babysitter however seems more composed. She, too, is carrying bags. A blue bag that has a shark on it (must belong to one of the kids), a bag filled with toys, and a drink for herself and a Go-Go squeeze-like container (possibly for the child she is holding). The child Aunt Babysitter is holding look no more than a year old. Maybe he’s at least two years-old. Based on this, Aunt Babysitter and Uncle Babysitter probably took a child to watch for their shift. Aunt Babysitter watched over the young boy while Uncle Babysitter watched over the young girl. The girl being more hyper than the boy most likely explains the Aunt’s calmness as she leaves the house.

Going back to the children’s mother and father could just be the last stop these people are going. Based on how much they have, they could be going on a road trip. Maybe Aunt Babysitter and Uncle Babysitter haven’t been around in their niece and nephew’s life and want to make memories with them as soon as possible. They could also just be going to the park for the day. These two adults seem they care for these children, but based on how they are composed as the leave the house, maybe they do not have a lot (or any) experience in taking care of children. Seeing how the Uncle has all of the luggage in his hands (and possibly extra items not needed, but his niece probably insisted she needed them) shows he hasn’t watch over kids before.

That being said, the kids are well dressed, they appear to be happy, and it looks like they were well taken care of while spending time with their Aunt and Uncle. However, if they are only going on a brief trip, maybe the amount of objects is not needed and they possibly didn’t plan this trip in advance. Or, if they are bringing the children back to their parents house, they could have made multiple trips from the house to wherever they are going to drop these items off.

The daughter fiddles too much with the toys her father is holding. She appeared to be ahead of the family…she seems excited for whatever this family has planned. Uncle Babysitter his bagel in his mouth as the young girl is tugging on the toys hanging off the bag Uncle Babysitter is holding. This little girl is probably stronger than Uncle Babysitter thinks because the stuff he is carrying in his arms now starts to fall. This throws Aunt and Uncle into panic, as their belongings start falling to the ground. The confident, happy Aunt now appears to be in distress. As she attempts to help, but remembers the younger boy she is holding and immediately tries to balance herself. As Uncle tries to compose himself, more of the bags start to fall. Luckily, he catches them.

Once Aunt and Uncle compose themselves, smiles return to their faces as they stare at the little girl who is trying to get them to hurry up by tugging on the toy that is dangling from the bag. As she keeps tugging the bag, the Uncle’s smile starts to fade. He’s perhaps starting to get annoyed at the young girl for being so hyper.

0:12-0:19
Uncle Babysitter goes for a bite of his bagel Did he not have enough time to eat this in the house? Surely, Aunt Babysitter has herself in order by not carrying food out of the house. As he takes a bite of his bagel, another strap falls off his shoulder.
Aunt Babysitter appears tired of Uncle not having it together, so she starts to hurry up to wherever they are walking to, leaving Uncle behind. Aunt Babysitter’s expression changes, as she now looks like she realized she is late for something. Are they not going to the park? Maybe they had to bring the kids back to their parents sooner than later?

As they walk on the brick path, the items Uncle is holding are now finally falling to the ground. As Uncle is picking up the items, the little girl is smiling from ear to ear. Maybe she knows she caused Aunt and Uncle Babysitter to fall into chaos trying to get to their location and her brilliant plan worked. Maybe she finds Uncle Babysitter’s clumsiness absolutely hysterical and she still finds it funny seconds after it happened.

The four of them approach a dark gray SUV. The moment the young girl gets to the door, she let’s her stuffed animal and her bag drop to the ground. Aunt Babysitter goes to put her drink on the top of the SUV as Uncle Babysitter goes to clean up the belongings the young girl drops. The car doors automatically open to let the young girl and young boy in by Aunt and Uncle Babysitter.

0:20-0:24
Uncle Babysitter is now buckling in the young girl to her car seat. He now has a smile on his face buckling her in (so she won’t cause any more ruckus probably) and the young girl also has a smile on her face. She appears to have something in her hand that appears to look like a bagel. However, she is picking at it rather than biting it whole. Once we see the buckle being secured, this causes the young girl to shake what now appears to be a bowl filled with dry cereal right into Uncle Babysitter’s face. Now Uncle Babysitter has to clean up the dry cereal the young girl threw all over the SUV’s floors.

We then see Aunt Babysitter putting the young boy into his car seat. She appears to be talking to either him, or the young girl who made a mess of the cereal. Or she could be talking to Uncle Babysitter, telling him to calm down about the cereal. As we get a closer look of the young boy’s buckle being secured, we see a ring on Aunt Babysitter’s finger.

Are the Uncle and Aunt Babysitter NOT siblings? Maybe they are the grandparents of these young children and the husband decided not to wear his wedding band. The “wife” (in question) only has a ring on her finger, she doesn’t have a wedding band on either.
Maybe these two are the Aunt and Uncle of these children and Aunt Babysitter just got engaged.

The family is no longer on the screen. There is no a blue screen with a website, NHTSA.gov/TheRightSeat In addition to this website, there are four images. A car seat (for an infant), a booster seat for a toddler, a booster seat for an older child, and just a seat belt. (There are also seat belts with the previous car seats pictured)

Based on this visual, the message of car seats for children isn’t displayed effectively. All we saw were the children being buckled in their seats. How do we know on the ride to their destination the car seats are even appropriate for their size? If the car seat the little girl sat in is too small, she might either feel suffocated and uncomfortable the entire ride, or (because of her hyper-ness), she might burst out of the seat belt like the Hulk. We also don’t know how effective the young boy’s car seat is either. What if his is too big and he slides around in in while the Aunt and Uncle are driving? That wouldn’t be safe and if this visual’s message is to promote car seats and how safe they are for children, then they should promote the message more clear. The visual should have been AFTER the young girl and boy have entered their car seats on the way to their destination. I would like to see how each child is in their car seats and how comfortable (or uncomfortable) they are.

A family of four leaves their house. The two parents have a lot of stuff in their hands…many bags, a stroller (that appears to double as a “backpack”), snacks for their children, thermoses (could they contain coffee? Water?), stuffed animals. They could be going on a family outing together and it appears they’ll be traveling for a while. The children are relatively young. The little girl standing by her father looks five. She is seen with a smile on her face as her parents are walking out the house. The youngest child…he looks about a year old. Both parents look ready to tackle the long journey ahead. The mother flips her hair back as they walk to (supposedly) their car. She seems confident about something. The father is talking to his daughter, who is fiddling around with the toys the father is holding. As he talks to his daughter, it appears he has something else in his hand. It looks like a bagel…did he not have enough time to eat? Maybe they thought they were late? While the mother looks very confident, the father doesn’t seem to have had time to pack things away properly.

The daughter fiddles too much with the toys her father is holding. She appeared to be ahead of the family…she seems excited for whatever this family has planned. It became so out of control that she pulled the items the father was carrying right off of his arms, throwing the family into utter chaos as a result. The mother tries to help, but must hold her son. The bags fall but the father catches them before they hit the ground. The parents appear distressed.

0:12-0:19

Despite the chaos, the father is still trying to eat his bagel. Now the parents look like they’re in a hurry to get to their car. Some of the items have fallen to the ground and despite the distress the father and mother are in, the daughter is smiling like she’s on top of the world. When they arrive to the car, the daughter let’s all of her stuff drop to the ground. The mother puts her drink on top of the car and then the car doors open so the father can help their daughter in the car and the mother can put their son in the car.

0:20-0:24
The father is now buckling in their daughter to her car seat. The daughter is now eating something…perhaps they got another bagel? She’s picking it at rather than biting it whole like her father did.
Once she is buckled in, the daughter starts to shake a bowl that looks like it is filled with Rice Krispies and she is making a mess everywhere. We then see the mother buckling in their son to his car seat. We get a close up of the seat buckle being buckled with both the son and the daughter
