0:03 At the beginning of the scene you see a bunch of students walking through the hall. To the right of the screen you’ll notice that there is a girl being shoved into a locker by two girls. Most of the students are crowded to the other side of the hall to give the feel that the girl is alone. There isn’t anyone using the lockers on the right side of the hall.

0:05 Here one of the girls is pulling on the others hair while her friend watches. There is a young boy who is walking right past the incident as if he didn’t see anything at all.

0:09 Now we are looking at the girl sitting on the floor trying to pick up her books. While doing so the one girl is still messing with her hair. The other girl is still being shown in the picture to show that she is also messing with the girl on the ground.

0:12 The camera pans to the left to show all the students in the hall just walking by. No one is even looking at the girl on the ground.

0:19 It now shows the one girl down on her knees making the girl on the ground look down the hall as if someone is watching. It provides a full view of the entire hall. No one seems to even be paying any attention.

0:21 The screen cuts to a mirror which shows the girl being bullied.

0:23 Now the locker that the mirror was on has closed a little and now shows the face of another young girl. The girl has an upset look on her face, it’s more of a frustrated look.

0:26 The locker  that the girl was at is now closed.

The video message was the fact that many students witness their peers getting bullied but don’t do anything to help. It is trying to show that there are some people who want to step in and help but they don’t know how to. They want to raise the awareness of bullying. The video gave a pretty clear message. They showed the lack of interest that everyone had, and then showed one person who actually looked concerned but didn’t know what to do. Which is how many people even adults feel.

0:01 The ad starts with a dark, empty classroom. On the one wall you can see some sunlight from the windows streaming in. In the room older-looking, wooden desks and a chalk board. Indicating that the classroom might be older, or in an older school. Carved into the back of one of the desks are the words “we’ve been labeled”.
0:03 The ad continues with the camera facing a desk in a dark room. The floor and the desk still wooden and older looking. There’s also a wooden pencil placed in the crease on the top of the desk. The words “we’ve been angry” are carved onto the top left side of the desk.
0:05 The ad changes to a different scene of a brick wall with a lot of windows. The windows look older, and the bricks have changed colors and are clearly not new. There’s a sign with black lettering that says, “no roller skating skateboarding or bicycle riding”.
0:06 The scene changes again to a fence with a white sign on it. In black letters it says “NO ROLLER SKATING SKATEBOARDING” and in small red letters in between it says we’ve been controlled. It looks like a zoomed in picture of the previous frame.
0:10 Is a blurred out background of a school hallway. On the way below the blurry window panes it say’s “we’ve been hopeless”.
0:13 Now the scene changes from a school to a bedroom. On the wall of random magazine cutouts and pictures is a torn piece of notebook with the words “we’ve been miserable” written on them.
0:15 A foggy car windshield appears and the view is from the inside of the car. On the foggy night windshield, with headlights in the window, the words “we’ve been hurt” are written by a finger.
0:19 It’s a dark lonely gymnasium in a school. Theres three door panels where light is shining in. On the doors the words “we’ve been lonely” are written.
0:20 The scene changes to a light bathroom with lots of light. On the mirror is the reflection of the sinks, and in red lipstick the words “we’ve been invisible” are written.
0:24 It’s a classroom with desks again but the room is brighter. On a bright orange poster board in the back it says “we’ve been judged” in green letters.
0:26 A black converse lays on the carpeted brown floor with it’s shoelaces untied. On the white bottom part, “we’ve been abandoned” is written in blue sharpie.
0:27 It’s a dark window pain, with an orange glow. The word’s “we’ve been lost” are written on the outside of the window in black.
0:36 A sidewalk in the sunshine appears and the words “we’ve been happy” are written in bright yellow chalk.
0:38 A black chalkboard reappears in a brighter classroom and the words “we’ve been inspired” are written in white chalk.
0:45 An old brick wall has been written on in blue chalk. The words “we’ve been supported” are written.
0:46 A bright grey locker appears, in a brightened hallway. The word’s “we’ve been there” are written on the bottom of the locker.
0:48 Then more bus seats appear and multiple bus seats have the words “we’ve been there” written on them.
0:49 More wooden bleacher benches appear with the words “we’ve been there”.
0:50 Every step in the stairwell has the words “we’ve been there” written on them.

0:05 Looking on the mantel shown you try to get a feel of the area. There are some decorative pieces shown on the mantel but what could that indicate? Maybe it will make a statement later.

0:10 Depicted here looks like something caused the room to look the way it does. We went from a nicely decorated living room to a not-so-nice living room. The rug is an indication that was a force pressed against it. Like if a dog were to run on a loose rug with great speed it would create the same look.

0:22-0:28 As the video goes on the assumptions from the nice looking mantel start to dwindle away. As if what’s trying to be told is that everything was once beautiful but now it’s not.

0:39 With looking at this hole in the wall now I start to wonder, what kind of household is this? Definitely not a positive environment. Your first impression is that everything is ok but once you take the time to tour the house you start to realize that this household is not at all a place of positivity. Could the hole mean violence, could the hole mean poverty? I start to wonder.

0:54 Ultimately we realize this video was about getting our attention on domestic violence. We had to listen, rather realize, that the scenes depicted in this video represented the feelings that the wife carries with her day by day. When you first see her she beautiful like the well put together mantel. But inside she is broken and torn like the living room, dirty and messed up like the kitchen sink and the unmade bed, and she is abused like the hole in the wall.

0:00

There is a white male with short dark hair. He appears to be in his early 20s. He is wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and an  open jacket. His hands are in his jean pockets. He is walking away from stairs and a sign that reads BAR vertically up to down. It appears that he is on the top of a building.

0:01

The man looks to his left and starts to take his hands from his pockets.

0:02

The man looks to his right, takes his hands completely out of his pockets and adjusts his jacket. He appears nervous as if he’s looking to make sure that no one is around. Or perhaps he is looking for someone.

0:03

The camera has changed positions to show the man walking towards a car on what appears to be the roof of a parking garage. There is only one car, however. There are buildings in the background which suggests that the setting is a city.  The space is otherwise vast and empty except for a streetlight with two lights coming out on the right and left sides. The streetlight is next to the car that the man is walking towards. The man stumbles as he steps forward on his left foot.

0:04

The camera changes position to show the man’s face as he looks up toward his right. We can say pretty confidently that the man is intoxicated at this point, as his eyes appear glazed over. He is looking at something that is close in proximity. It appears that he is looking at the streetlight since this was the only close thing to his immediate right in the previous shot.

0:05

The camera returns to the same frame of reference as 0:03 seconds but this time with another man who stands under the right light of the streetlight. He appears to be holding something up in his right hand, aiming it at the man.

0:06

The camera shows in a new shot that this man is a police officer. This is shown by the uniform he is wearing. He looks to be holding a flashlight that is turned off but its still not totally clear if that is what he is holding.

0:07

The officer lowers his hand and is talking to the man in what appears to be a friendly manner. By his expression he could be giving him a word of advice.

0:08

The officer throws whatever is in his hand to a man in brown shirt and tie and brown pants and shoes who is on the other side of the buzzed man. He appears dressed for an office job. He is chubby and has stubble on his chin and sides of his face.

0:09

The man in the brown shirt catches what the officer throws. And says a few words to the buzzed man. He could be the buzzed mans father or boss or professor at a school he goes to perhaps.

0:10

Shot of buzzed man looking confused and turning his attention to another direction.

0:11

The object is now thrown to a bearded man with long brown hair in a khaki uniform. He looks like he could be a mechanic. There is a trunk in the distance behind him with what appears to be a ladder sticking out. Perhaps he is a friend or coworker of the buzzed man. Or perhaps he is the man who would have to fix his car should he crash it. If this is the case then the police officer likely represents the law the man will have to deal with if he gets caught driving under the influence. And the man in the shirt and tie might be from the insurance company that the buzzed man would have to deal with if he got in an accident. It has become clear to me now that the man in the khaki uniform is holding a key; likely the key to the buzzed man’s car.

0:12

Man in khaki outfit is talking to the buzzed man.

0:13

Camera shows buzzed man again with bloodshot eyes and looking increasingly more unsettled.

0:15

The buzzed man turns to see a woman catch the key. She is wearing a woman’s suit. Her hair is neat and tidy. She could be his mother perhaps or some other authority figure in the buzzed man’s life. She proceeds to say something to the buzzed man before throwing the keys.

0:18

A black man in a suit and tie (perhaps, the buzzed man’s lawyer) catches the keys and says something to the buzzed man.

0:21

The camera goes back to it’s position from 0:03 to reveal all of these people standing around the buzzed man, staring at him. They all appear to have ganged up on him and are waiting on him to make a decision (likely of whether or not he will choose to drive).

0:22

The black man, who we can now see is holding a briefcase throws the key back to the buzzed man who catches it.

0:23

The camera closes in on the buzzed man’s right side of the man from his shoulder up. He is looking down at the object in his hand thoughtfully, curiously. He is making a decision.

0:24

The buzzed man looks up to see the space as it was at 0:03- completely deserted.

0:25

He looks around at the spots where the people who were speaking to him once stood as he moves the hand that the key is clenched in up and down.

0:28

The ad ends with a message that zooms across the screen as if it were on a spinning globe. In blue light it shows the word BUZZED, in red light it shows the word BUSTED, and in blue light it shows the word BROKE. At the bottom left hand side of the screen is the logo for the Ad Council on the bottom right hand side is a logo reading NHTSA. Underneath the NHTSA logo is a website.

0:30

In white letters the words “BUZZED DRIVING IS DRUNK DRIVING” appear on the screen.

0:31

The screen goes black.

0:00-0:01- A car drives passed the camera quickly, revealing a man and woman who appear to be lightly arguing outside a crowded place, in front of a car with it’s driver’s and back passenger doors open.

0:02-0:08 The man tells the woman something as she appears to give into whatever he was pushing. The man kisses the woman, and a driver with a bottle of beer hops in the drivers seat, while she sits in the back.

0:09-0:14 Another man comes to the car from the building, and shares a few words with the man from the beginning. They all hop into the car with bottles of beer in hand, the driver hands his bottle to the man in the passenger seat.

0:15-0:16 The woman’s friend says something to the driver in the front seat.

0:16-0:18 Close up of man behind the wheel, who makes silly faces in response the man behind him talking, as he attempts to start the car. He is clearly drunk as is everyone else in the car.

0:19-20: Dolly shot of the man in the backseat sit back and put his arm around the woman, ready to start moving.

0:21-0:22 Close up of driver sticking keys into the ignition, and turning them to start the car.

0:23-0:25 A flash of light fills the screen and suddenly a shot of two skeletons are shown in the back, there’s a flash of light outside the car and the camera pulls forward to reveal skeletons in the front seat as well.

0:26-0:30 A skeleton hand reaches out to shake that of a regular humans fleshy hand. They meet and above them the words “Drinking and Driving can kill a friendship” appears over the two shaking hands.

Here is the Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdYvWGvGXFM

0:01

A young couple around their mid-twenties, are out in a forest area. Both are dressed in relaxing comfy fall weather clothes, so the weather might be a little chilly but not too cold and it is nice and sunny outside. The female is on her cell phone maybe trying to get a connection, maybe just looking through her social media accounts. Her facial expression looks as if she could care less about this camping experience. The male is looking at the female as if he wants help from her, or he is a little frustrated with her because she is just standing there not helping him. A fire is either getting to be prepared to be started or a fire has just gotten put out, indicating the bucket to the right of the males leg. It also looks as if they are packing up to leave the tent site or maybe they just unpacked and are just arriving.

0:03

The male is not looking at his female companion, or sister, or maybe just a friend anymore. His face is directed towards the fire pit right below him. The focus is on him now, the female is out of the picture at this frame of the video. There appears to be a look of disappointment that the fire maybe is not starting, or he could be sad that him and his lady friend have to leave this lovely weekend they might of or might not had, or he is just upset that he had to put the fire out because it symbolized that the great weekend he just had , has come to and end.

0:06

Something has seemed to distracted the female from her smartphone device. She is now looking down either at her male friend or the fire pit. Maybe she sees that her friend is upset that he had to put the fire out, or her friend is elated that the fire is beginning to pick up. There could be something else on the ground that has caught her eye, maybe a furry animal, or a crawly critter, her expression is unknown to me.

0:07

The camera is focused back on the male now, and he seems to be a little elated that the fire is going out finally, or because his hand is resting over the pit, he maybe feeling for the heat of the fire if it is picking up or cooling down, but you can tell that the video clip is focused on the fire somehow, someway, because the fire pit seems to be the main focus in most of the video.

0:09

The male is standing up and looking satisfied because the fire has either picked up or the fire has gone out. Now he can finally finish some other task that he may have to do. There is a tall furry object or creature standing next to him that the male has yet to realize.

0:10

The furry tall creature/object has caught the males eye and he has turned his head to see  what is standing next to him. He does not look scared but he looks confused and in utter shock.

0:12

The creature/object is still unidentified to the viewers eyes. It seems to have grabbed the male to hug him or strangle him. By the looks of the males face, which is confused/ comforted the creature/object is hugging him.

0:14

The creature/object is revealed to the viewers eyes and it is a bear standing on two feet and his name might be smokey or that might be the name of the forest they are in, the bear is wearing pants and a hat , looking like a sate park ranger. The bear is continuing to hug the male and the bear and the male seem to be in a comforted mood. Maybe the bear is congratulating the man for not making a mess while he stayed in the forest or not starting a fire or even putting out the fire safely.

0:15

The camera is focused back on the female, she seems in a sate of she has no idea what is happening. Her mind cannot wrap around the idea of this bear on two feet hugging her friend. Maybe she is scared and is beginning to call 911 or maybe she is taking a photo for her phone or her social media accounts.

0:18

The bear and the male or looking at each other eye to eye now and have stopped hugging. the bear seems to be maybe giving him a pat on the back for a good job or telling him verbally that you did a great deed to our forest and he is welcome to come back and stay anytime. The males face seems to be understanding the bear and they are both in agreement.

0:20

The bear is maybe leaving the male to go somewhere else or maybe he is going over to the female to talk to her or hug her. Maybe the bear is just finished congratulating the male and is moving on to another campsite to congratulate another family.

0:21-0:24

The male and female are side by side and are maybe conversing about what just happen, they look calm but still in some sort of shock.

0:25-0:26

The female is showing the picture that she took in her phone to the male or maybe someone is calling her phone and wants to speak to the male.

0:27

The camera is facing the backs of the two friends/lovers and you can now see the bear walking away from the campsite, maybe they are saying goodbye and or thank you as the bear walks away from them.

0:28

The bear maybe hears them and says you are welcome but does not look back, and the friends/lovers seem to be happy that they did such a good job maybe cleaning up the campsite or putting the fire out safely.

The back of a little boy can be seen looking at a fence or even opening it. The boy is probably a young elementary student because of the book bag on his back. On the left of the frame, there is part of a white house. Could it be a school?

0:02

The boy walked into the building. He seems to close the door comfortably because he body does not shift backwards to shut the door.

0:05

The boy puts his book bag on the floor in what it seems like the kitchen. The kitchen looks rather empty but clean. His body languages tells us that he’s pretty comfortable because he heads straight for the fridge like it was a routine. The drawing on the refrigerator probably belongs to the young boy.

0:07

When the boy opens the refrigerator, there is little food the fridge. There are a couple of sauces and something in two containers.

0:09

We can see the boy through the crack of the open fridge. He is looking down like he’s trying to find food; however, he does not look surprised. It seems like the lack of food or his routine is nothing new to him.

0:11

We can now see the whole entire fridge and it’s basically empty. The boy is looking up to see if there is any food on the top shelf of the fridge. There is a drawing on the refrigerator, but there is no male figure in it. Does he not have a father?

0:13

The boy gets to the shelf above the counter and he opens it. When the boy opens the cabinet, he finds spices. There are some canned food but not that many. The shelf has some open spots where food might used to be.

0:15

The boy can be seen looking up on the shelf. He looks like he’s thinking about something. The boy looks rather sad and disappointed that he couldn’t find what he was looking for.

0:18

The boy looks like he’s walking away from the kitchen. On the way out he spares a glance at the refrigerator one last time.

0:21

The scene changes to a woman. On the side of the screen there is a logo that says “Feeding America”.

0:28-31 (end)

The logo Feeding America is now centered in the video implying its importance.

While listening to the video with audio, it made a big difference. Yes I could imply that the video was about a boy who was looking for something to eat (like a snack) when there was no audio. However, when I listened to it with audio it made a greater impact. A young boy goes home wanting to eat, but there is no food in his household. In the end, the lady told us a statistic about how 1 in 5 families struggle with hunger in America.  If there wasn’t any audio throughout the clip, I would not know it was about hunger until the very end when it says “Feeding America”.

Girls Are Bullied Too:

0.01:

A young girl, about 15 years old, is walking down a school hallway. Her back is towards us and it appears she is going to class or her locker. She is carrying a backpack over one should so she is prepared for her next class. There are other students crowding the hallways and talking by lockers.

0.02:

In this shot we can see that most of the students have dispersed into classrooms. The bell is probably ringing to signal the beginning of class. There are a handful of students left in the hallway. The girl continues to walk towards a classroom or locker.

0.03:

Two girls, a blonde and a brunette, approach the young girl while she is at her locker. From the way the blonde and brunette look you would assume they were the “mean girls”. However, maybe they are all just friends. No body else in the hall seems to be concerned with the confrontation as they continue to casually walk to their next class.

0:04:

The brunette friend grabs the young girls hair in a way that seems unfriendly. Maybe she’s making fun of the color or look of her hair. The young girl seems to shy away from the girls touch which tells me that they probably are not friends. The blonde girl laughs at what her friend is doing and still no one else stops to look.

0.06:

This is the first time we see the young girls face. She is wearing big black glasses and comes off as the shy or nerdy type. She is the type of girl who the mean girls would pick on. She looks upset at the fact that these girls are talking to her and that the one tried to touch her hair. She clutches tightly to the books she is holding in her hands.

0.07:

The blonde girl knocks the book bag out of the young girls hand and stares down at it waiting for the young girl to pick it up. The young girl is in a crouch as if to grab it. There are still students in the hallway but no one has bothered to look at what is happening. Maybe this is common in their hallways? Maybe no one wants to get involved for the fear of being bullied themselves?

0.10:

In this shot you can see that all of the young girl’s stuff fell out of her back pack into the hallway. She is quickly trying to pick up all of the things and no one stops to help. The two girls stand over her and watch.

0.13:

As the young girl is picking up her things, the brunette steps on her books and papers on purpose. It is now obvious that there is bullying going on between these three girls yet no one stops to help the young girl. Are people scared of these two older girls? Are they notorious bullies?

0.16:

The blonde girl is holding the young girl’s glasses in her hands and is laughing with her brunette friend. The young girl looks nervous that she might break them. There are still some students scattered around the hallway.

0.19:

The brunette kneels on the ground next to the young girl as she tries to pick up her things and aggressively turns her head to a specific direction. There seems to be a boy in that view so the brunette is probably embarrassing the young girl in front of her crush.

0.22:

A new view is established and it seems to be through a mirror. In the mirror we see the two mean girls standing over the young girl laughing at her. This tells me someone must be watching the confrontation. Are they laughing at the young girl too? Do they feel bad for her? Do they want to help her? Will they?

0.23:

A new brunette girl is brought into view. She looks upset at the situation behind her. Will she be the one to stand up for the young girl?

0.25:

We see the new girl stare into the mirror for a few moments, probably listening to the bullying going on behind her. She makes a face, almost as if resigned. She may feel like there is nothing she can do to make it better. Is she scared the bullying will turn to her?

0.27:

The new girl closes the locker. This is meant to signal that she decided not to say anything even though she knew what she saw happening was wrong.

0:01 second into this PSA

1

There are two wine glasses being held in 2 individual hands and they are held parallel/facing each other, symmetrically across the left and right of the frame. It is as if these hands are moving in for a toast. The wine glasses proceed to inch closer to each other unusually slowly.

Most likely, due to this being a PSA, this ad is going to be about drinking responsibly.

0:08

8

The toast has been achieved; perhaps with too much enthusiasm, for the wine glasses have become destroyed upon impact. Drinking can be destructive.

0:11

11

The Wine Glasses have been rendered completely destroyed. The manner in which the wine glasses moved was ominously without hesitation. There was nothing holding back these glasses from destroying each other and after it happens the hands just move away again without hesitation. Almost mechanically. Coldly.

Wine has been splattered helplessly due to its container being smashed into fragments. This is the death for the wine.

0:14

14

The next image is of glasses of beer, being held by their handles, starting in the same exact position as the wine glasses. They are also moving unusually, coldly, slowly, towards each other. Will they perform differently?

0:16

16

…No they do not.

0: 18

18

The Beer glasses, as well, have been completely destroyed in the exact same fashion. This goes to show that not only wine glasses can be destroyed but beer glasses also. The contents of the glasses just like before have been spilled about with no way to contain them.

Now it has been shown that no matter the type of glass or contents within the glass. They will all be destroyed the same way.

0:22

22

The next image is the exact same starting image as the wine and beer except this time it appears to be simple whisky glasses; which seem to contain whisky on the rocks.

The commercial has shown that wine and beer become destroyed upon impact of the toast. If the whisky glasses do not explode this commercial will obviously be promoting whisky. However, this is a PSA, so most likely it is not trying to advertise whisky. Therefor; most likely, these glasses will explode upon impact as well.

0:23

23

Surprisingly, a third hand has come into the mix. It reaches up and out from the bottom of the frame to catch the glass of wine that was coming from the left. It also cushions the impact of the glass that was coming from the right.

This shows that a third party can put a stop to these “crashes”. Crashes may be too accurate of a word here. This PSA is most likely about drinking and driving.

Therefore this third hand must represent someone of non alcoholic influence since it is not holding a glass of its own. This hand has put a stop to the crash showing that these crashes can be prevented if one simply isn’t being influenced by alcohol.

0:24

24

There you have it. The words “Drinking and driving can kill a friendship” have now shown up right above the halted glasses of whisky. Perhaps this sober hand represents an innocent friend getting caught between the recklessness of the opposing inebriated drivers and not just someone putting a stop to the wreckage.

This PSA shows through its multiple types of beverages and glasses. That any type of person in any type of vehicle, if under influence, can get destroyed regardless. The only common factor is the alcohol. Omit that and create more sober hands which can save more drunken people from crashing.

0:02

Video starts with white and grey words”What you see is real. Footage courtesy of the Bully Project” on the grey background. It becomes obvious that video is going to be about some kind of a bullying. However, it’s not possible yet to guess what kind of bullying it’s going to be.

0:04

The situation is taking place in a school bus full of kids, around 12 years old. Most of the kids are boys, and there’s just female driver and teacher with them. One of the nerdy looking boys is getting pushed from his seat by another boy sitting right next to him. Nobody seems to care about the situation.

0:08

Another boy that is sitting behind them joins the bully and hits the victim. Poor boy turns around, he’s disgruntled and abused, but he doesn’t say anything. Boy sitting on the left keeps starring at his phone, teacher doesn’t see, or pretends not to see that something wrong is happening, even though she’s looking pretty much that direction.

0:10

After hitting harmless kid, bully commands him to move and change his seat. He’s pointing on the seat and the boy submissively moves where he’s been told to go and stays quiet. Some kids are watching all this happening with curiosity, others don’t even bother to look that direction and keep doing their own things.

0:15

For few moments camera is showing two blond girls sitting in the same bus and most likely watching guys bullying their peer. You can see just face one of the girl, she looks curious and entertained,  it seems like the whole situation doesn’t upset or disturb her.

0:17

Camera shows the boys again. Kid is sitting on the new spot, but other kids keep bullying him. Another boy starts smothering him from the back and the person sitting right next to the helpless kid doesn’t even look at his neighbor.

0:19

For the new few seconds camera switches some shots, showing reaction of different kids sitting on that bus and being witnesses of the situation. Most of children look worried and unsure how to react. They seem to be too scared and not care enough about the situation to say something back to bullies.

0:27

Video ends with the same grey screen. The inscription says “Teach your kids how to be more than a bystander”.

Adding sound to the video doesn’t make a big difference for this video, because pictures speak for themselves. You can notice that kids not just physically hurt their victim, but they also verbally abuse him.

The purpose of this video is to prevent bullying among children and teenagers, teach kids that ignoring the situation doesn’t make it better and staying quiet doesn’t protect you from bullying.
