We cannot function without money which is why it plays such a big role in our society. We must trust in the government and the banking system to properly handle our valuable money especially when it gets directly transferred into the bank. From learning about the Yap Fei, the American and French gold trade in 1933 and the Brazilian cruzeros, we see that money is much complicated than simply having it or not.

False Interpretation

Money seems to have a big role in our society; you can’t do much or get far if you don’t have any. Money is valuable in different ways, even when you don’t see it physically. In today’s society you must have faith in the government, in the banking system, that your money is being handled with in the proper manner, if not then you would be hiding all of your money under your mattress, or around your house. I never really have a clue what happens in the banks, and how they take care of your money. I always just thought money was quite simple; you either have some or you don’t, that’s it. However, by being introduced to this assignment and having it compare the Yap Fei with the US and France gold trade in 1933, and the Brazilian cruzeros all seemed somewhat similar. No one actually sees their money being transferred. When you get paid, you don’t get a check or get paid even in cash, it’s all directly transferred to your bank account, and that you just have to trust that you got more money.

Personal Interpretation

Money has an involvement in our society that decides how much we can do and how far we go. Besides the physical appearance, money is valuable in many other ways. Although, we must have faith in the government and banking systems for handling our money properly, rather than keeping all the money in our households. With faith, we don’t need to know how the banks take care of our money. But, everyone should be familiar with how much money they have.  Rather than being given cash when we are paid, we don’t see our money, because the money is then transferred directly into our bank accounts. We learn to build trust with the banks that we have more money. Crossing into other countries, when comparing the Yap Fei vs. US and France gold trade in 1933,  the Brazilian cruzeros shares similarities with the way currency is being secured.

Edited: Money has a massive effect on day-to-day life; hardly a thing can be accomplished without it.  Money has intrinsic value, even when it is physically invisible.  In today’s society, the government and the banking system must be trusted; we must assume that our money is being properly handled–were this not the case, it is almost certain that our money would be stashed away about the house, under the bed, or even in a chest buried in the back yard.  I have never had a firm understanding of the complexities of banks, nor how they handle money.  It has always been my belief that money is a very simple concept, and that we either have it or do not.  However, this assignment introduced me to the Yap Fei, the 1933 gold trade between the US and France, and the Brazilian Cruceros, and allowed me to realize that all forms of currency are in fact quite similar to one another.  On payday, very few people receive a check or cash.  In the days of direct deposit, we must have faith that the number on the slip of paper we receive from the ATM is higher than it was before, as we very rarely get a physical glimpse of our wealth.

Money plays a big role in our lives; we can’t do much or get very far if we don’t have it. Money is valuable in different ways, even when not tangibly present. In today’s society, much faith is put in the government and the banking system, hoping that money is being handled with care. Those wary about the system go as far as hiding money under mattresses and around the house. A common belief is that money is simple, as many do not know what goes on in the banking system and the proper care of money. Most cultures are extremely cautious with the transference of money, but by being introduced to the ways of the Yap people, I have become familiar with another way of banking. The Yap use a currency called Fei, or giant rocks, which to them is normal in terms of money, but there is one catch; no one actually sees their money being transferred. There is no cash, there are no checks, and there is no hassle. When it comes to their banking system, the Yap are a trusting group of people who transfer their money by hand and without caution.

Money plays a major role in today’s society; we can’t do much or get far if we didn’t have any. Money is valuable in different ways, even when we don’t see it physically. In today’s society, we must have faith in the government and the banking system, since money is being handled with in the proper manner. If we didn’t, we would be hiding money under  mattresses, or around the house. I never really had a clue of what happens in the banks, and how they take care of money. I always just thought money was quite simple; we either have some or don’t, that’s it. However, by being introduced to this assignment, by comparing the Yap Fei with the US, France gold trade in 1933, and the Brazilian cruzeros all seemed somewhat similar. People can’t see their own money being transferred. When someone gets paid, there is no check or cash because it’s directly transferred to their bank account. People just have to trust that they got more money.

Money seems to have a big role in our society; we can’t do much or get far if we don’t have any. Money is valuable in different ways, even when it’s not physically there. In today’s society, we must have faith in the government and in the banking system that our money is handled in the proper manner. Without this faith, we would keep all of our money in our homes. I don’t really have a clue of what happens in banks or how moneys handled. I always thought money was quite simple; we either have it or we don’t. However, learning about the comparison of Fei with the US and France gold trade in 1933, as well as the Brazilian cruzeiros, opened up my mind to a more complex idea. One does not physically witnesses their money being transferred. When we get paid, we don’t get a check or receive cash, our money is directly transferred into our bank accounts. We just have to trust that we legitimately gained more money.

Money factors so largely into everyday life that it is practically impossible to do much or socially advance if we lack funds. Money’s value is always felt, even when we are not physically in the presence of the prized linen slips. Today, we must have faith in the government and banking system that our money is being handled properly, or risk being driven by fear to stash our money around our homes. The ambiguous nature of the banks and their mechanics leave many wondering what is going on behind vault-doors. The popular conception of money is rather simple: we either possess wealth, or we don’t. However, this assignment’s comparisons between the Yap Fei, U.S. and France gold trade in 1933, and the Brazilian cruzeiros revealed underlying similarities between various types of economic endeavors. Money transfer is largely invisible. Upon payment, we would now be surprised to receive a check or cash, since direct transferrals to our bank accounts have become the new norm.
