I love the idea of the Banzai Pipeline, and I’m delighted to see such a fresh idea for a paper. I wonder how you’ll pull it off. There’s probably an essay somewhere already that spends a couple thousand words providing all the basic information you’ve shared here. Does the project require any academic sources at all? Does it require research?

There are value judgements here, of course, that will have to be tested and explained. You don’t seem to be depending on just one measure of “best,” but several. Is the wave’s shape “the best”? What does that mean? Is the length of the ride “the best”? I wouldn’t think its ability to attract an audience would qualify to make a wave “the best” of anything, but you appear to want to claim that it does. I’ll be intrigued to hear your explanation.

I’m off to Google Scholar to see if there’s any subject matter there that will help.

    1250 results for “surfing waves”:

16 results for the combination “surfing waves” “banzai pipeline”:

This should be enough to get you started. 🙂
