Money seems to have a big role in our society; without it not much can be done.  Money is valuable in different ways, even when the physical body of it is not obtained. In today’s society the faith is left in the government and banking system. We trust that our money is being handled in the proper manner, if not then all of us would be hiding all of money under mattress’s, or around our houses. Not really having a clue of what happens in the banks, nor how they take care of money, I always just thought money was quite simple; we either have some or we don’t. However, by being introduced to this assignment and having it compare the Yap Fei with the US and France gold trade in 1933, and the Brazilian cruzeros everything to me seemed somewhat similar. No one actually sees their money being transferred. When being paid, we do not receive a check or get paid even in cash, it’s all directly transferred to our bank accounts, and trusted in the idea that our money is safely in our accounts.

Comparing our money to the Yap fei, the US and France’s gold trade in 1933, and Brazilian Cruzeros is a prime example of not actually having physical money. In the banks, money is not physically transferred, when depositing checks, numbers are just moved around in the computer. This requires trust in the banking system that money ends up where it belongs.
