    • I appreciate your feedback, the zoom conference very beneficial and I’m excited to get started. Since I can’t figure out how to edit my first hypothesis, here’s a revised version that’s a little more specific to what we discussed:

      1. Meditation
      2. How meditation affects the brain
      3. Scientific evidence of what happens in the brain during meditation
      4. Meditation affects on mental health
      5. How meditation reduces anxiety
      6. How meditation can be used as a tool in the event of an anxiety attack

Thank you again for your help! Looking forward to writing this and learning more on this topic.

A Hypothesis can’t include the word “How.” It doesn’t know anything and can’t project what its answers will be. The simple fix for the Hypothesis as you’ve phrased it is:
—Meditation can be used as a tool in the event of an anxiety attack.

But a better hypothesis would be:
—A person skilled in meditation can use the technique to reduce or ward off even a severe anxiety attack.

It’s phrased as a claim that you then set about to prove. If you prove it, you win! If you prove that it’s untrue, or that it can’t be proved, you win! You share what you’ve discovered.

Next, you need to know how to Edit your posts.
See the tiny little gray footnote below your post that says “Edit” alongside your Categories and above your Responses? Click that and you’ll be launched back into the same text-entry page you used to post your original. Make your changes there. Then click Update instead of Publish.

You could read three books and write a book report about them, but the better use of 3000 words would be to carve out a little sliver of the topic for yourself that will make a unique contribution to the conversation. Could we have a 10-minute conversation about your interest in this fascinating but very general field of study? Or if you prefer, would you share something specific here in feedback that will help me narrow your focus?

Whether you revise or not, I expect you to respond to feedback so I’ll know you respect the process. Otherwise, I’ll be less likely to help you in the future. Thanks!
